Ages 7–12: Ben Kudo wanted to go home. He had two days left in the small Japanese village of Shogahama, where his recently deceased father grew up. But his family’s plans to return to California are upended when a powerful earthquake shakes the village in Lauren Tarshis’ I Survived the Japanese Tsunami, 2011.
