Over a century ago, Terre Haute native Asa “Ace” Stewart made his mark on America’s favorite pastime, playing 20 seasons of professional baseball from 1889 to 1908. After a year in the majors with the Chicago Colts in 1895, Stewart returned to Indiana, suiting up for teams in Indianapolis, Anderson, Peru, and his hometown. Decades later, his story might have been lost to history until a traumatic head injury in 14-year-old Patrick Stewart’s own baseball game led to a remarkable discovery. During recovery, Patrick unearthed a long-buried family connection to Ace Stewart, his great-granduncle, and began piecing together the life of a player known for his grit and determination.

Join authors Patrick Stewart and W.C. Madden as they share the true story behind Discovering Ace Stewart, a blend of personal memoir, local sports history, and the search for a legacy nearly forgotten.
