Ages 6–12: Ever since she was a child, Mae Jemison dreamed of dancing among the stars. In Roda Ahmed’s Mae Among the Stars, learn how she followed her dream with encouragement from her parents, her curiosity, and her determination to become the first African-American woman in space. After storytime at the Swope Art Museum, your child can channel their budding rocket scientist as they build their own spaceship using cardboard boxes, paint, and colored paper.
