During England’s Regency era, women’s hobbies were limited by the norms of their society. Watercolor painting was one of their few acceptable creative pastimes, but few would be recognized for their skill. Despite these constraints, women like Maria Cosway, Clara Wheatley Pope, and Mary Moser managed to defy expectations and obtain notoriety for their works. At this month’s Art Hacks, learn more about female artists during the Regency era and try painting with watercolor.
