Ages 7–12: Despite the constant barrage of small tremors and the endless plume of smoke above Mount Saint Helens, Maribel and her family think it’s only a precaution when they are ordered to evacuate their home. Three weeks later, Maribel realizes that she left some important items behind. She decides to return home to collect them—just as the once-dormant volcano explodes in Sarah Hannah Gomez’s Maribel Versus the Volcano. After enjoying the adventure, explore the primary types of volcanoes and experiment with creating your own eruption.
