Program Description

Event Details

Only fifteen species of cranes exist throughout the world. Of these, eleven are considered threatened or endangered due to habitat loss and unregulated hunting. Learn about the two crane species that live in or migrate through Indiana—the Whooping Crane and the Sandhill Crane—with the International Crane Foundation. The International Crane Foundation will explain how to identify these two species, where and when they are located in Indiana, and what threats undermine conservation efforts. They will also explain the efforts to reintroduce and preserve the Whooping Crane, currently the rarest of all crane species, and future safeguards that will protect Indiana's cranes.
